When you or a family member is going through treatment for cancer, anything to make life easier is appreciated. Your gifts to Rice Health Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund help make life easier. It may be a gas card to help with travel expenses for treatments. It may be a wig for someone who loses their hair during chemotherapy. It may be a massage or other complementary therapy to improve a patient’s well-being. It might just be the peaceful and healing atmosphere the Willmar Regional Cancer Center offers.
Gifts to the Cancer Care Fund
Hair loss while undergoing cancer treatments is very stressful. Your gifts to the Cancer Care Fund provide wigs to patients experiencing hair loss due to chemotherapy treatments. The Willmar Regional Cancer Center at Rice Hospital has a beautiful room, filled with beautiful new wigs, and a professional hair stylist available to fit patients with the perfect wig.
The Willmar Regional Cancer Center and Rice Rehabilitation Services have collaborated to develop and offer a new Cancer Survivorship program. Caregivers received specialized training on the important role of physical therapists on the survivorship care team. Willmar Regional Cancer Center patients are referred to Rice Rehabilitation’s physical therapy team to assist with regaining range of motion, reducing lymphedema and developing an exercise plan. The program provides an integrative physical therapy approach to treating patients during cancer treatment and recovery. The development of the program was made possible through gifts to the Cancer Care Fund.
Gifts to the Cancer Care Fund over the years have made a huge difference in the lives of cancer patients, and will continue to do so in the future. From complementary therapies that can enhance the healing process, to state-of-the-art equipment that continually improves the care delivered to patients. Thanks for supporting Cancer Care in our community.
